You are measuring something different though: with log analysis you 
measure hits to resources on your webserver(s), including images, 
downloadable files etc. and from JavaScript enabled browsers as well as 
other user agents like search engines, with pixel tracking you are 
measuring page views by JavaScript enabled browsers. Both are useful 
analyses but you won't get the same type of information.
